APA News AnnouncementsCall for Potential Commentators and ChairsThe 2009 Central Division Program Committee very much welcomes nominations, particularly self-nominations, from individuals interested in serving as commentators and session chairs at the 2009 Central Division meetings. In selecting for these roles, the Program Committee tends to prefer, other things being equal, persons who have not made frequent appearances on the Central Division Program in the past few years. Individuals who are willing to serve in this role should send the information specified below, no later than July 1, 2008, to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Central Division, Robin Smith, at rasmith@tamu.edu or by post to: Robin Smith, Department of Philosophy, Texas A&M University, 4237 TAMU, College Station, TX 77845-4237. Expressions of interest should include the name of the (self-)nominee, the nominee's departmental affiliation, a list of the nominee's areas of specialization and particular interest, and the names of two or three of the nominee's significant or representative recent publications. (A curriculum vitae is not required for this purpose.) The Program Committee will give consideration to including as many as possible of those who express interest in this way. However, we cannot guarantee to place on the program everyone who volunteers to be a commentator and/or chair. Whether or not you get called on will depend in part on the number of volunteers, and the number of accepted papers, in your particular area. Please
note that if you have submitted a paper for the 2009 meeting which is
accepted for presentation, you will not be considered for a commentator's
or chair's position. The Program Committee does not learn the identities
of the authors of submitted papers until after it has made all its acceptance
decisions, in order to preserve the policy of blind review. If you
are also submitting a paper for consideration, please do not include
mention of this when putting your name forward, to avoid inadvertently
compromising blind review. |
